Something Witchy This Way Comes by H.P. Mallory

Series: Jolie Wilkins (5)

Kindle Edition, September 25 2012, 338 pages
Goodreads | Amazon UK | Amazon US

For smart and sexy witch Jolie Wilkins, being Queen of the Underworld is a royal pain. Back from a round of time travel, Jolie must now protect her realm from the sinister Lurkers—a powerful breed of half-humans bent on conquering the undead. And if there’s one thing she knows, it’s that the supernatural never go down without a fight. At least Jolie has her soul mate (and finally official boyfriend), warlock Rand Balfour, by her side. Honorable, brave, and unbelievably handsome, Rand is everything Jolie wants in a man. So why can’t she forget the dangerously alluring vampire, Sinjin Sinclair? With her private life heating up and a battle boiling over, Jolie sets out to prove that in matters of love and war, the fairer hex has its own set of charms.

So this is a BIG improvement on the previous book. Jolie was back to the kick-arse girl we know and love although I'm not sure why she's still so attached to Sinjin, I mean I love him but I'm just a reader, if he'd treated me the same way I wouldn't give him the time of day. I'm thinking she just loves the attention. There where parts in this book that where soooo slow I feared I was going to flop to sleep right there, and then other times there was so much going on it was making my head spin. I loved all the new information we got indulged with in this book, I was giddy with excitement from some of the surprises, it was emotionally draining for me to say the least.
This book was definitely my favourite of the series, apart from maybe the first and second. The newly introduced characters where really intriguing and I couldn't wait to see how Jolie handled herself.

I didn't realise till after I'd finished this book that this would be the last in this series, which was disappointing and strange. Disappointing because I wasn't ready to leave Jolie and her world behind just yet. Strange because this book left me with so many questions and I felt like non of them got answered. I have heard talk that there will be a spin-off series but I'm not sure all my questions will be answered. I'll be really sad if this truly is the last book because I've grown to love the characters that H.P. Mallory has brought to life and I have no idea what I'll do with my life after this series.
